Summary :
A tug pushing a barge stacked two wide maneuvered around a bend at the 105 mm. A male and female subject were in a two seater kayak. When they rounded the same bend as the tug and barge they were unable to maneuver out of the way before the barge struck them and ejecting them from their kayak. The barge unable to come to a complete stop as the collison occured, ran over the two subjects. After being run over by the barge, the male and female subjects crawled out from underneath the barge sustaining no injury.

Wouldn't want to be going down the Missouri in kayak at night. I guess the noise of the tug pushing double wide barges and the big search lights wasn't a clue that there was something coming up the river.

They should have had more info before 75 people set out in kayaks from Kansas City to St. Louis and try to make it in 100 hours.

Tugs have the right of way. They are lucky they could out from under the barge and didn't drown.
